Third Party Center Committee
Committee Mission Statement: The mission is to work with managed care plans in Arkansas to insure that Optometrists are given the opportunity to participate as a primary eye care physician and gatekeeper for their plan. Also, to work with Medicaid to keep Optometry included as a primary eye care physician and work to obtain the maximum reimbursement for Optometrists.

Goal: ENGAGE - Provide benefits and services to support member success and excellence.
Strategy: EXPERTISE – Expand access to trusted experts,practical guidance, and timely solutions that help members navigate clinical, regulatory, legal, and business challenges.
Committee Membership Responsibilities
Expected Timeline: As needed
Time Commitment: As needed
Qualifications: Knowledge of Third Party Plans, Medicare and Medicaid, or other areas.
Support Provided: Staff support; AOA Third Party Center
Tasks: Provide a resource to members to support practice needs and proper payment. To ensure optometry is represented fairly in third party plans; in the electronic health record system, state insurance exchange, Medicare, Medicaid, PQRI, and other areas that affect billing and scope practices.
Member Request Process
- Doctor sends email request to the TPC email account.
- Staff forwards the email to committee members.
- Committee has 48 hours to respond to each emailed request by replying directly to the TPC email account.
- Staff collects and shares the TPC response with the Doctor that made the request.
